2020 Goals Update: March

On January 1st, I posted my 2020 goals. Now today, April 1st I am posting my goals update for the month of March. I think we can all agree March was a month with a lot of unpredictability and some days were definitely rougher than others. But we’ve made it to April and hopefully things can start to get better again. But for now, here is my goals update for the month of March!

1. Write 500 words a day: This month I got at least 500 words every single day, which after missing a day in February, I am even happier about than usual. The expected word count for the month was 15,500 words. I exceeded that goal with 17,995 words! And yes it slightly bothers me that I was 5 words short of 18,000, but I am very happy that I exceeded my goal and got all my days in! The word goal for the month of April is 15,000 and I feel very confident that I will be able to reach it!

2. Learn or try something new every month: If you haven’t already read this post, you can read it here.

3. One post a week: Once again, I was able to get one post out every week! I am very proud of myself for keeping myself on schedule and getting my posts out to all of you on a weekly basis. The secret to my success (but it’s not really a secret) will be revealed in a blog post on April 15th, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

4. Finally finish a draft of a novel: My novel draft is still in progress. It is still in pieces and I’m not sure where some of the pieces go… But the good news is I was able to get the first five chapters put together enough that I was able to send them out to three beta readers! I have yet to receive any feedback from them, but I’m no rush. Honestly, I am very nervous about receiving their feedback because this is the first time I have ever done this. Any other time I gave my work to someone for feedback was in a writing class where we had to share our work and feedback. This is the first time I have actively asked for feedback on my work, so hopefully it goes well!

So that was my March! As stressful and unpredictable as it was, I am proud of myself for sticking to my goals and completing them. Hopefully the month of April brings all of us some much needed positivity!

How was your March everyone? Did you reach or exceed your goals? I would love to know! And please let me know how you’re doing below! Have a great week everyone.
