On January 1st, I posted my 2020 goals. Now today, February 1st I am posting my goals update for the month of January. I will be posting my goals update on the first of the month so I can accurately give my word count for the month, which would be hard to do if I post it right on the last day of the month. I hope that makes actual sense and not just sense in my head! But anyway, onto my 2020 goals update for the month of January!
1. Write 500 words a day: For the month of January my word count should have come to 15,500 words. I am very proud to say that my word count came out to 19,059 words! That’s 3,559 words more than the original goal! Seeing how much I have accomplished this month has motivated me to keep my 500 words a day going and to keep at it as hard as I have been. The word count for February should equate to 14,500 words and I am feeling very confident that I will be able to reach that goal!
2. Learn or try something new every month: My new thing I tried in the month of January was a veggie burger! To read about that experience, here is the post about it! https://mythoughtsonwritingandreading.wordpress.com/2020/01/29/my-new-thing-i-tried-in-january-veggie-burger/
3. One post a week: This month was a success! One post was up every week and thanks to my meticulous scheduling, I even managed to stock up on blog posts to help get me through this month (February) and even have a few for March ready! So this has been a very solid month for blogging!
4. Finally finish a draft of a novel: Though my first draft is in pieces at the moment, the good news is there are more pieces to it, meaning progress has been made on it! For February I’m mainly hoping to start putting all the pieces I have together to figure out what I still to need to add to the story or what I might need to delete. But it’s coming along and that makes me super happy!
I am very proud of myself for how well January went. I am coming into February feeling very confident, proud, and with a lot of positivity! All I can do now is work hard to make February just as great as January, if not even better than January!
How did your January go? How are your goals coming along? I would love to know!
Wow!! You’re on fire! Kudos for accomplishing your goals this month. I’m happy with my January writing. I just finished a new tanka (my second ever), and I also finished a new short story (although it is really depressing).

Thanks, Liz! I appreciate all your support 🙂
And that’s awesome! I enjoy a good depressing story, so I would love the opportunity to read it sometime 🙂

My pleasure, Michelle!
I don’t run across many people who enjoy a good depressing story! I’m still doing final word-choice fiddling, but then I’ll send it out to start making the rounds.
