Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban: Appreciating Year 3 At Hogwarts

I know Harry Potter has been out for over 20 years and there are countless reviews, criticisms, etc on it. But in preparation for my upcoming trip to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios Orlando, I have decided to re-read the series again and post about it. I have never been to Harry Potter World and as a Harry Potter fan for over half my life, I cannot put into words how excited I am to be going! So I have decided these posts aren’t going to be book reviews, but appreciation for each book. So here is the appreciation post for Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban!

Confession time- Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban has always been my least favorite Harry Potter book. I don’t know why, but it just is. Which I find really weird because three of my favorite things come from this book! Those three things would be The Knight Bus (because who wouldn’t want to ride on it?!), The Monster Book of Monsters (I don’t care if it might bite my hand off, I still want to read it!), and The Time-Turner necklace (because it’s owned by Hermione, my favorite character).

Besides those three things, what I appreciate about this book is that we FINALLY had a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who knew what he was doing. Professor Lupin is hands down my favorite DADA professor in the entire series. And the fact that he encourages eating chocolate to feel better is excellent because that’s pretty much my motto!

I also appreciate all the new elements added to this novel. We learn about the Patronus charm, learn about being an Animagus, we discover the Marauders Map (and just how badass the Weasley twins have always been), and more. Overall, I feel there is a lot to appreciate about this book even though it’s not my favorite!

What good memories do you have associated with Prisoner of Azkaban? How old were you the first time you read it? I would love to know! Have a great start to your week everyone!
